Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 July 2026
These terms govern your use of the Unsuspendly macOS application and related services ("the Service"). By installing or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
Unsuspendly reads text from lecture slide decks you provide, uses an AI model to identify the concepts they cover, maps those concepts to tags and phrases, and then — at your instruction — unsuspends matching cards in your own Anki collection and optionally reorganises them into subdecks.
2. It modifies your Anki collection
Back up your Anki collection before using the Service, and keep backups. The Service changes which cards are suspended and can move cards between decks. Deck and card operations in Anki are not always reversible, and a mistake — ours or yours — can affect a large number of cards at once.
You are responsible for reviewing the searches shown in Review & Run before applying them. The Service provides a preview of what each search matches precisely so you can make that judgement. You accept that automated matching is imperfect and may unsuspend cards you did not intend, or miss cards you wanted.
3. Your content and licences
You retain ownership of anything you upload. You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the Service (including transmitting extracted text to our AI provider, as described in the Privacy Policy).
You confirm that you have the right to upload the material you provide. Lecture slides are often owned by your institution or a third party; obtaining any necessary permission is your responsibility. Do not upload patient-identifiable information or other confidential material.
4. Subscriptions, free tier, and cancellation
- The Service includes a free tier with a limited number of lecture uploads per calendar month, provided automatically with no payment details.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You may cancel at any time through the customer portal linked in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
- Monthly limits reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC) and do not roll over.
- We may change pricing with reasonable notice. Changes will not affect the billing period you have already paid for.
5. Refunds
If the Service does not work for you, contact us within 14 days of a charge and we will consider a refund in good faith. Nothing here limits any statutory refund or cancellation rights you may have under your local consumer law.
6. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to circumvent plan limits or licensing, share licence keys with people who have not paid, resell or redistribute the Service, interfere with its infrastructure, or use it to process unlawful material.
7. Not medical advice
The Service is a study aid. It does not provide medical advice, and nothing it surfaces should be relied upon for clinical decisions or patient care. Flashcard content comes from your own collection and is not authored, reviewed, or verified by us.
8. Third-party software
The Service requires Anki and the AnkiConnect add-on, which are independent third-party software governed by their own licences and terms. Unsuspendly is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anki, Ankitects Pty Ltd, or The AnKing. It does not include, distribute, or modify any flashcard deck.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the Service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features may change or be withdrawn. The Service depends on third parties (Google, Cloudflare, Stripe, Anki) whose availability we do not control.
10. Warranties and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for loss of data, loss of study progress, or damage to your Anki collection. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability; in those places these limits apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate a licence that breaches these terms, or where required by law. On termination your right to use the Service ends; data stored locally on your Mac is unaffected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date above, and the app will ask you to review the revised version. Continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located there will have jurisdiction — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
