Quick setup
Connect the free AnkiConnect add-on, choose the deck Unsuspendly should search, and fetch that deck’s live tags. Anki must be open while you use the app.
Upload Lecture
Add one or more PDF/PPTX lectures and confirm their titles. Unsuspendly extracts slide text and sends that text to Google Gemini through its service to identify concepts and how centrally they are taught.
Review & Run
Local code compares the concepts with tags that actually exist on your cards. Every proposed search is checked read-only and shown with its real count; edit, remove, or inspect exact matches in Anki before running.
Study
Press Unsuspend only when the plan looks right. Matching cards change in your existing collection, and the completed run is saved to History with scoped undo options.

The matcher is built and tested primarily around the AnKing Step hierarchy. Other tagged decks can be selected, but results depend on how consistently they are tagged.
Run-scoped yield review
Where compatible AnKing Step 1 yield tags exist, separately review and suspend low-yield matches from this run, not the whole collection, with confirmation and undo.
A clear data boundary
Extracted slide text is sent to Google Gemini through Unsuspendly’s service. Your Anki tag list, cards, and notes remain in the local AnkiConnect workflow and are not sent to Gemini.
Why I built this
I built Unsuspendly because the work after a lecture should be reviewing the material, not repeatedly navigating a tag tree.
As a medical student, most of my school's lectures aren't taught straight from First Aid or Boards and Beyond. They're in-house lectures, often with a slightly different emphasis or vocabulary than however the AnKing deck happens to tag things. After every class I'd be digging through tags by hand trying to figure out which AnKing cards actually matched what was just taught, unsuspending them one search at a time. It worked, but it was slow, repetitive, and easy to miss cards simply because I didn't think to search the right term.
Unsuspendly is the workflow I wished existed: start from the lecture itself, propose searches against the tags in my own collection, show what each search finds, and let me make the final call. I built it for myself first, then for other M1s and M2s who want the same reviewable handoff.

Questions
What do I need to use this?
A Mac running macOS 13.5 or later, or a 64-bit Windows 10/11 PC; desktop Anki; the free AnkiConnect add-on; an internet connection for lecture analysis; and a tagged deck already in your own collection. Keep Anki open while using Unsuspendly.
Which decks work best?
Unsuspendly is built and tested primarily around the AnKing Step tag hierarchy, including Step 1 and Step 2 scopes. You can select another tagged deck and fetch its live tags, but sparse or inconsistent tags cause more text-search fallback and results may vary.
Does this replace Anki or the AnKing deck?
No. Unsuspendly does not provide flashcard content. It works with a deck already in your own Anki collection and can change suspension state after your approval. Optional settings can also move matched cards into subdecks, add lecture note tags, or start Anki sync. It does not delete cards or notes.
Can I undo a run if it unsuspends the wrong cards?
Completed runs are saved to History. Undo lets you choose between cards the run newly unsuspended and the run’s full matched set; organization created by that run is reversed as part of the undo.
What leaves my computer?
Unsuspendly extracts text from the lecture file, then sends that text to Google Gemini through Unsuspendly’s service for concept identification. The Anki deck’s tag vocabulary, card contents, and notes stay in the local AnkiConnect workflow and are not sent to Gemini. How accurate are the matches?
They are proposed searches, not a guarantee. Word-overlap tag matching can miss synonyms or choose a related tag, and concept extraction can be incomplete. Review the real count, inspect exact matches in Anki when needed, and remove or edit anything that does not fit before running.
Is there a Windows version?
Yes. Unsuspendly supports macOS 13.5 or later and 64-bit Windows 10/11. The two apps share the same core matching behavior.
How do I cancel?
Through the Stripe customer portal, using the email address you subscribed with. The app’s Settings tab links straight to it, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
